State of the City
The Lakewood State of the City luncheon early in the new year always includes the premiere showing of the city's informative and humorous annual report video.
At this year's February 7 event at The Centre at Sycamore Plaza, the theme of the Lakewood CityTV video is "Secrets of Lakewood." Tickets are available through February 2 at www.lakewoodcity.org/SOTCTickets.
After the showing of the video to the 200+ attendees, Lakewood Mayor Diane DuBois will give her State of the City address, in which she highlights some of the 2017 achievements and new projects underway in 2018, including:
- renovations to the lodge at Monte Verde Park
- upgrades to the Burns Community Center, and
- stormwater capture project at Bolivar Park, along with new turf and new picnic shelters.
DuBois will also speak about the "secret ingredient" that makes Lakewood such a successful city, an innovation born right here -- the contract city model of government, known in public administration circles as "the Lakewood Plan."
Lakewood's Sheriff’s Station Captain James Wolak will provide a public safety update.
Mayor DuBois' full remarks and the Annual Report video will be posted February 8.
Re-broadcasts of the State of the City video, including remarks from speakers, will run on CityTV Channel 31 from February 18 to March 8 on Sundays and Thursdays at 12:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. CityTV can be seen on channel 31 on TimeWarner Cable and Verizon FiOS and streaming live on the city’s website at www.lakewoodcity.org/citytv.
